Measurement Scale

Data are distinguished based on the time scale used to measure so-called Measurement Scale. There are four kinds of measurement scales on the statistics we need to know and as important as Statistics for the Data size. Four kinds of Scale Measurements are Nominal, Ordinal Scale, Scale Interval, and Ratio Scale.

- Nominal Scale. This scale is a scale with the lowest levels of the four existing scale. In this nominal scale, one object with another object can only be distinguished on the basis of the given symbol. So the data is grouped into several categories and categories of existing categories were given the appropriate symbol or any number. In the other words, symbols or numbers which are given no meaningful numeric, only to be distinguished. More easily on this scale could only distinguish data that are qualitative in nature, such as Sex, Religion). Statistics according to this scale is commonly used nonparametric statistics to determine the frequency, mode.

- Ordinal Scale. This scale is a scale which has the distinguishing characteristics of data in different groups according to symbol. On this scale contains a nominal scale of distinctions based on the symbol. Only, in this scale there is the nature of a group that formed to have a better understanding of the other group. So, on the ordinal scale data is possible for the sort or ranked. More easily at this scale in addition to distinguish distinctive character as well as instance level data on satisfaction, level of education and others. Science Statistics appropriate for this scale is commonly used Nonparametric Statistics to determine median, percentile, Correlation.

For Interval and Ratio Measurement Scale is explained in the next column. Thanks.
